I replaced the omni-directional antenna that came with my ActionTec (FiOS) router with this one. Using the unscientific measure of "number of bars" as measured by my iPhone, every reading in my house either stayed the same or improved by one. Since there are only three bars total that is, in my mind, a big improvement.As an aside, I thought I could further improve things by moving the antenna from the back of the router which is on the floor behind a TV to the top of the TV. I did that with a Hawking RP-SMA TO RJ-SMA ( HAC7SS ) cable and some duct tape (to hold the base of the antenna to the upper back of the TV). In that case things went back to the level of the original antenna. Apparently whatever benefit there was from moving the antenna to what I thought was a better location was more than offset from loss introduced by the additional wire and connector.Bottom line: if you use this to replace your original antenna then the signal will likely improve. If you make other changed the results could go either way.BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews can take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and work hard to return the favor as best as I can. I purchased this antenna to improve the wireless performance of my other desktop PC which is located on the far side of the house, where I couldn't get good connectivity with my existing 3 dBi antenna on my Ralink WiFi adapter. The signal strength improved greatly when I attached this higher gain Alfa 9 dBi antenna (tried it on my WiFi adapter AND my wireless router with an adapter), and I also ran a connectivity speed test on CNET's site, where I noticed a 40% improvement in speed! As a further test, I wanted to see how many WiFi networks (nodes) I could pick up in my immediate neighborhood. My previous 3 dBi antenna could pick up 13 networks, and this new Alfa antenna can now pick up 22, which is a significant increase! Signal strengths are noticeably up as well on most of these recieved networks. The extra dB gain and performance this antenna gives you over lesser stock antennas on your WiFi adapter or router, is well worth it! Everyone should use one to boost signal connectivity and performance. On an ending note, back in the 70's during the CB craze that swept the nation, I remember how many (including me) tried to improve their omnidirectional antennas (and thus their signals) by upgrading their smaller 1/4 wave verticals or Shakespeare Big Sticks to 5/8 wave gain verticals or higher gain extended base station antennas like the IMAX2000. Signals and range improved significantly when moving up to a higher gain CB antenna. Ditto for a WiFi scenario or application.

I get a great signal now from my router! The boost was very much needed. I replaced a tiny 3db antenna, now with this 9db antenna makes a great difference. I highly recommend it.
