So if you are looking for a device to connect to an outdoor 2.4 GHz antenna, such as on a boat or an RV, this is a perfect solution. It outperforms wireless cards that are built in to newer laptops. Adding this to your laptop or desktop computer will enhance range and signal quality at longer distances. And works with Win98SE/200/ME/XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Linux (kernel 2.6.6 and later) and Macintosh (OS version 10.4). I have tried many different network adapters this adapter has the longest range from source router. The 7dBi Panel antenna rotates so you can tweak where the antenna is pointing for best signal. I compared this with three other USB wireless network adapters I have on a strength meter of 1-5 (5 being the best connection). Sitting in my car approximately two blocks from my house I was able to get 5 bars with this unit while 2 of the other adapters had 3 bars and the last adapter had 1 bar. This is GREAT for travelers that want the power to adjust the antenna to get max range/signal strength.

I do want to get an outdoor high gain omnidirectional for this unit as well. The pan directional unit is great. Highly recommended for the advanced user. This is overkill for your average user, unless you are a business traveler. I doubt I will use the included omnidirectional antenna much.
