BearExtender is a high power Wi-Fi radio with an external antenna that increases the range of your Mac's Wi-Fi signal up to four times as far as your internal AirPort card. It is a standalone USB Wi-Fi adapter and can be used with any Macintosh computer, including those that do not have built-in AirPort cards such as older G4 towers, iMacs, and Mac Pros. It is compatible with Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.7 Lion, 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.5 Leopard and 10.4 Tiger. BearExtender contains both a transmitter and receiver, so no internal AirPort card is required. Perfect if your aging internal AirPort card has become defective. BearExtender achieves long range Wi-Fi performance through an external antenna, a high sensitivity receiver and a powerful Wi-Fi transmitter, up to 1200 feet. First, the upgradable external antenna design minimizes interference while increasing the antenna gain. Next, BearExtender's award winning receiver is built using proprietary Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit for superior power amplification. This allows BearExtender to boost faint incoming Wi-Fi signals. Finally, each BearExtender is built with a powerful 700mW Wi-Fi transmitter, to communicate with a router, access point or Apple base station at long distances. BearExtender is also a great Mac antenna for older PowerMac G5 and Mac Pro systems that required a small external T-Shaped AirPort Antenna. Instead of purchasing a small passive antenna such as the Apple T-Shaped one, just plug BearExtender into an available USB port and get a fully powered and amplified external antenna. Finally, BearExtender contains both a transmitter and receiver, so no internal AirPort card is required. Perfect if your aging internal AirPort card has become defective.
