This is one of the best home, mobile, or RV WiFi Antennas made. The Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 plugs into your computer for powerful WiFi Internet reception. Installation is a snap and performance is outstanding. While testing it in our small town of Fortuna, California we were able to see an additional 20 wireless networks. On average, users can get 300 to 400 feet even through several walls. In further tests we were able to connect to a small wireless router from over 100 yards away, keeping 80% signal strength through several walls and obstructions. In one of our tests we even connected to a network a mile away. You may be surprised at what the Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 can do for you.

 

The antenna incorporates a water resistant design for outdoor use (IP65 Rated), along with wireless “N” technology for lightning fast file transfers with your “N” router. It comes with a 15-foot USB split cable that offers two plugs to your computer, although normally one plug is sufficient for powerful reception. The antenna mounts easily to a window with suction cups or to the wall using the lanyard and "hook and loop" mounting strip. If you are trying to receive a very distant signal from outdoors, then the best place for mounting the antenna is above the peak of your roof so that signals can be received from miles in every direction. A cable tie is included for pole mounting outdoors. You can purchase an additional 30-foot USB cable so that you can mount the Super USB WiFi antenna on a roof, a mast or in a window.

I'm Impressed

So I'm in the oil & gas business, and I'm currently working in the foothills of some mountains. Needless to say, the wifi signal I was picking up from the neighbor was giving me 1, maybe 2 bars of signal. Most of the time, if I needed to send an email or download a file, I would have to walk out in the yard to get a consistent signal. I looked online for a while (in the front yard) at wifi signal boosters, enhancers, repeaters, etc. Then I came across this. I did not have much faith, as every single wifi enhancing product had at least a couple of awful reviews. But I gave it a shot, got it delivered next-day, and I just plugged it up to my pc. I am very happy to announce that I am sending this review from my desk - No need to go out in the yard. In fact, my signal went up from 1/2 bars to full signal. Full. That's pretty amazing. Yeah it's more expensive than other options, but you get what you pay for. A Lexus is going to perform better than a Saturn.

Mount it Outside as High as Possible

I own the C.Crane Super USB Antenna 3 - and the Alpha Networks 802.11b/g Long Range Wireless USB Adapter Model AWUS036H - the one with the flat rectangular antenna you can rotate.The Crane antenna works well as an OUTSIDE antenna preferably on top of the roof while the Alpha is a superior performer INSIDE next to your computer.Side by side the Alpha picks up more signal because it is a DIRECTIONAL antenna with an amplifier. The Crane is an OMNIDIRECTIONAL antenna with no signal amplification.After mounting the Crane Super on the roof of my 2 story duplex I got20 hotspots6 registered 5 bars (excellent) and 8 registered 4 bars (good)The Alfa sitting next to my windows 7 netbook on the ground floor picked up10 hotspots3 registered 4 bars (good)

Wow!!! Amazing

This Antenna works excellent. I live in a rural area in hilly Tennessee and wanted to receive a signal inside my detached garage with a lot of metal on the roof and walls . Not only did I pick up my signal strong but also several others that were at least a mile away still inside the garage . Super strong, will bring in the hard to get signals .

Works great but...

I got this antenna for my T-Mobile laptop connect card which has a small port for antennas. Unfortunately when the antenna arrived it did not fit the port as it was supposed to according to the website.Fortunately for me I was able to modify my data card antenna hole to fit without damaging the card. Once it was in it worked like a charm. I had a very clear boost in signal(don't confuse that with speed).To clarify a little, I work on the 24th floor of a building and could barely hold on to an Edge connection which is very slow(speed). Once I plugged in the antenna I was able to get a fairly consistent 1-2 bars of 3G. This did change my speed but only because I was able to pick up the higher frequency(3G) which is faster than Edge. Antenna's themselves do not boost signal speed, they boost signal strength. In other words, the 3G signal was to weak to pick up before and the antenna gave me the boost I needed to receive it. I had to clarify because to many people mistake that about antennas.Eventually, I purchased another larger antenna from this company directly from their website. It was a military grade antenna and holds on to the signal better and now its much more stable.In any event, these products are great. I also, noticed that the newer antenna had a proper size component for my port.

I'm so happy

I live on the outer edge of the ATT tower range. My Sierra wireless would only get 1 bar, often none, inside my house (possibly the metal roof). If I sat outside and tipped it just so I could get 3 bars, but it makes it had to type that way. I found the antenna port on the side of the device, and went looking for an antenna. I saw a few, but settled on this one because it clips on the top and can be tip at various angles. I get 3 bars in the house regularly, and often 4. I am very pleased.

Nice Entry Level Wireless N Router

The E1000 is an entry level wireless N router with a 100Mb switch. This router runs 802.11n in the 2.4GHz frequency (~130Mbs) to be backward compatible with 802.11b/g. The downside is that if you have a mixed wireless client environment at home (Wii/Blackberry) - 802.11b/g, newer laptop with 802.11n) you will only ever get a max of 802.11g speeds. If you have any 802.11b only clients, your performance could be much less. If you have a mixed environment and really think you need 802.11n speeds then you should be looking at the E3000. This device has two separate radios (2.4GHz and 5GHz). You would then dedicate the 5GHz to your 802.11n and use the 2.4GHz for 802.11b/g connections. You also get a gigabit capable switch vs. 100Mb). Running 802.11n in the 2.4GHz frequency in theory is 130Mb/s and in the 5GHz frequency that is pushed to 300Mb/s. Keep in mind, that you will never get the advertised speeds, not even on b/g as the wireless protocol has a very large overhead. You are lucky if you actually see half of that speed. The 2.4GHz frequency does travel farther than 5GHz but with speed tradeoffs. 2.4GHz is also more susceptible to interference from the microwave, baby monitor, or anything else that runs in the 2.4GHz frequency.I know that was long, but the point is to understand what you have at home for wireless clients and then determine what product you need to buy. I think most people see the E1000 at a lot cheaper price and don't really understand what they are getting.Now for my review: I have a mixed environment and am just happy with the 802.11g like performance. The speeds are not an issue for streaming HD content from my DireTV DVR to laptops over wireless or streaming video/music throughout my house. I have the device set up in the basement and get adequate coverage throughout my two story home. It even sneaks out to my garage (on the opposite end of the house from the E1000) and the patio. Having much experience with networking equipment, I choose to bypass the "easy setup" and manually configure the device and the clients. I think setup problems from a client perspective have more to do with Windows Vista and Windows 7 security than the E1000. My Wii and Blackberry connected quickly and easily while the Vista and Win7 machines took a couple of tries to connect. Overall, a good product for its intended purpose.

Unexpectedly easy to set-up and reliable. What's not to like?

After upgrading my internet service, I was forced to purchase a new router to provide wireless access. After looking at the usual suspects, I purchased this item based on experience with Linksys on prior occasions and a decent price. The unit is rated for speeds up to 300 MBPS, is rated N and 2.4 GHZ. I am very glad I did purchase this particular router.Pros:1. Set-up: I literally have NEVER had such an easy time setting up a wireless network before. I simply took the unit from the box, gave it power and after installing the CD on my 'home' computer, the thing literally began finding the internet signal and within maybe 4 minutes completed the task. Voila! I had a network! Besides changing the name of the network and the password, I had no issues whatsoever - it simply worked. And I only had an issue briefly because I failed to turn off the previous router (I was too excited). Unbelievably easy. Actually, I think the word is astonishing.2. Aesthetic: I think this matters for any electronic item because most likely you will be looking at it on a table or desk somewhere. And I have to say, this thing is ultra cool looking. No antennas. It is simply a futuristic flying saucer looking item. The unit is black, with an ultra-cool "Euro style" blue light panel. I certainly don't mind having it around to look at continually. However, it does not have a small footprint. For a comparison, think of a trade paperback book and you will get the approximation of the size. It is oriented horizontally, not vertically. As is typical with these routers, you get 4 Ethernet ports on the back, a power plug, and a reset button on the back.3. Reliability: I have not had any issues with this item since I purchased it. The network seems stable, and I have not had any drop-outs.Neutral:1. I did enter the router manually, and the router setting are not as easy to navigate around as other routers I have dealt with, but I found the buttons easy to change and manipulate.Cons:I bought this at a decent price, it worked instantly and it looks very neat and tidy. I have NO complaints.Overall, I think this is an excellent product, and this is why I am sharing it with other readers. It just works!

Great router!

This router is fantastic for anyone, especially for those new to wireless networking. Linksys has done everything for you. All you have to do is pop in the Cisco Connect disk after you've plugged in the router, and you're pretty much done. They give you an SSID, passwords, etc. You can change your SSID and whatever settings you need to change very easily and quickly using the Cisco software if you like.I loved the Guest network option for friends and family who need internet access on your wireless network without giving them the key to your main network. The parental controls option is also a fantastic feature for people such as myself who have children whose internet access you need to limit after school and/or on the weekends.The only issue I encountered was the signal going in and out upon initial hookup. This was quickly fixed by unplugging my cordless home phone. Although my phone is 6.0 DECT and shouldn't have been a problem, it was for some reason. After unplugging the phone and setting up the router, I plugged my phone back in and haven't had any issues of any kind.This setup was simple and unintimidating. No logging into the router and being so confused you want to either stay wired or end up leaving your system unsecured. I would most definitely suggest this router for newbies or anyone else who's found setting up a wireless network to be frustrating. Best router out there!

Best WiFi antenna on the market. Best performance with the 7dBi panel antenna

Nearly all Amazon.com reviewers agree, the Alfa AWUS036H is the long range WiFi antenna on the market. But with 3 antenna options to chose from, which is the best setup?I own the all 3 wi-fi antennas from Alpha: 5dBi omni-directional, 7dBi panel, 9dBi omni-directional. The Alfa AWUS036H with the 7dBi antenna is the best performing set up: Alfa AWUS036H Upgraded to 1000mW 1W 802.11b/g High Gain USB Wireless Long-Rang WiFi network Adapter with 5dBi Rubber Antenna and a 7dBi Panel Antenna - for Wardriving & Range Extension *Strongest on the Market*With the 5dBi omni antenna, I can get 2-3 bars from a public wi-fi signal a little over 1 mile away (direct line of sight).With the 9dBi omni antenna, I get only 0-1 bar with dropped signals.With the 7dBi panel antenna, I get 3-4 bars with the fastest data transfer rates.I have even tested the 5dBi and 7 dBi side by side and the 7dBi loads web pages in less than 1/2 the speed as the 5dBi antenna.I have done a fair amount of research before purchasing the Alfa AWUS036H unit. The general consensus is that this unit has much better performance for B and G networks than the newer Alfa AWUS036NH model. But for accessing N networks, the newer model is necessary.Although I still own the 5dBi and 9dBi antennas, I only ever use the 7dBi panel antenan. It's actually shorter in size and easier to transport than the 5dBi model. In nearly every test location, the Alfa rated 1 bar better and -10 RSSI (Receiving Signal Strength Indication) better (with RSSI signals negative numbers are better).Although the 2200mW Yagi antenna is much larger and twice the power, it pulls in a weaker signal and slower data transfer than the 1000mW Alfa 7dBi panel antenna.Still this Alfa AWUS036H is the best performing wi-fi antenna on the market. RV user says it works like a hot damn but a fussy set up for a rookie

Hi,Just want to start out by saying when it comes to computer hardware and software I would give myself a 5 out of 10 in knowledge for instillation and set up of most things. So if you are a 1 out of 10 this might be a bit of a challenge to get up and running but it does work well once you tweak it.I'm in RV parks/resorts most of the winter in SoCal and most offer a park WiFi set up that is very slow. The way it works is the more people in the park the slower it gets which is common in these kinds of set ups. Trying to get some decent use out of the park supplied WiFi I turned to Amazon and found this..Alfa AWUS036H High power 1000mW 1W 802.11b/g High Gain USB Wireless Long-Rang WiFi network Adapter with 5dBi Rubber Antenna and a 7dBi Panel Antenna and Suction cup / Clip Window Mount - for Wardriving & Range ExtensionThere are no paper instructions but they do provide a disc with instructions on a pdf and a short (no sound) video that boggles the rookie mind. The company website leaves a lot to to be desired when it comes to start up help but I did manage to get it working with out their online or phone help. I'm in Palm Springs right now and my lap top could only pull in a few towers that were usable. Once I set up the antenna I got 25+ at pretty much full strength. They provide a window antenna with suction cup and WOW what a great difference that made in a RV with metal frame and fiberglass walls plus all the other gadgets in a RV.I would have given it 5 stars except for the set up experience as for the antenna itself it gets 5 stars. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a stronger signal.

This review is a comparison between the AWUS036H & ASUS051NH.I'll try to keep it as detailed and as short as possible.For this comparison I installed the 7dbi panel antenna on each adapter and suction cupped both of them to a 3rd floor window pointing towards the other houses in the neighborhood. I happen to live in a very low income area so I didn't expect to see many wireless routers in the area.My on board wirelees N card picked up 5 wireless networks, two SSID's in my house, one in my neighbors and 2 others in the neighborhood. The ASUS051NH picked up 14 networks but, i was very disappointed with the signal strength of the ASUS051NH. The 5 networks the built in wireless detected had the SAME signal strength as the ASUS051NH. The other 11 networks the ASUS051NH detected had such poor signal strength (-72dbi or worse) they weren't even usable.The AWUS036H on the other hand is completely different. The AWUS036H discovered 17 networks (3 more than the ASUS051NH) and even most important, all of the signal strength improved. The worst signal on the AWUS036H was -67dbi vs the ASUS051NH that was -80dbi or worse. All 17 connections were usable with the AWUS036H which sadly enough, I can't say about the newer wireless N model (ASUS051NH).Summary:If you're looking for the best long range adapter money can buy, get the AWUS036H. Don't waste your money on the ASUS051NH model. If wireless N is an absolute must, i'd recommend the TP-http://amzn.com/dp/B003YI4HRM/?tag={dspedia-20} TL-WN722N which is half the cost and has great reviews.

Handy Physical Installation, Good Software Installation

I have a SOHO that uses a wired 10/100 switched network. Already part of this network is a Linksys single port Cable / DSL Router. When it came time to make the jump to wireless, the WAP54G seemed the logical choice, as I would not have to reconfigure anything on my existing network. For my initial conversions, I was converting a desktop PC and an older laptop. For this review, I'll be discussing at the WUSB54G. Look for reviews on all these items posted separately.I decided on the WUSB54G because I did not have any available internal slots. This computer may be replaced in a year or two, and unplugging the network card from a USB port seemed a lot more attractive than opening the case. Actually, the installation is almost a simple as plugging the adapter into an available USB port.My initial installation was using Version 2.0 of the installation software. The significance of that will be explained later. Regardless of your version of Windows, I suggest installing the software first. This will eliminate any potential problems in the installation process. Make sure you know your network name and WEP Key. You will need to supply that information during installation or you will not be able to connect right away. If you don't have the key handy, it can be input later, but it is not as convenient.The Wizard does a good job of walking you through each step. Once done, you will need to reboot. Don't disconnect from the wired network just yet. Wait until the next phase is completed. On boot, you computer should detect the new hardware and install the correct drivers for it. The next step could take a while, so be patient. Your new wireless network card will search for a signal, an access point, and you should be prompted when a network is found. If more than one network is detected, a distinct possibility with the proliferation of wireless networks, you will quickly realize the advantages of naming you network something other that the default and of applying a WEP Key to your network.The initial connection took about two minutes, but seemed a lot longer! You will see an icon on the Bottom Right of the Task Bar indicating you are connected. I do one final check by opening a command prompt and using the command "ipconfig /all" to show all my adapters. If there's a difference in IP addressing ranges, reboot one more time. If both the wired and wireless connections show IP address in the same range, you're ready to unplug the wired connection. Now try opening your web browser. If you can surf, you're all done.My experience with this installation was very positive. The wizard was friendly, the physical installation could not have been easier, I had all the information on hand I needed and I was wireless after the first reboot. I'm using this adapter with a G network and I'm getting the full throughput.One final note: this installation went so smoothly I got another adapter from a local dealer that had a price too good to pass up. When I got home, however, I noticed a small sticker that said this was for Windows 2000 and Windows XP only. I then noticed the serial number and installation software said version 1.0. Hmmm... this was going on a Windows 98SE machine. The hardware specs looked identical, from what I could determine from the box, so I tried an experiment and used the version 2.0 software. It worked just fine. BEWARE: this is not an endorsement that this will work in every case nor should you conclude there is no difference between versions. I strongly suggest you try to get the latest version hardware and software for optimal performance.

So-so adapter, but utility has SERIOUS memory leak problem

First, the hardware. The Linksys WUSB54G wi-fi adapter comes in the form of a small box with a flip-up antenna. You hook the included USB cable (A-B type) to the adapter and to a USB port on your PC -- high-speed USB 2 port preferred -- and you can surf the web wirelessly. The adapter seems average in performance, in terms of speed and distance. (I use it with a Linksys Wireless-G router.) The signal strength seems to fluctuate quite wildly, even when you don't change any of the factors that might affect it. But overall, it works.Now comes a BIG warning: do NOT install the utility that came with the adapter. It has a confirmed serious memory leak problem. By this I mean that after running the utility (which sits in the system tray) for about an hour, it'll have gobbled up anywhere between 300MB and 600MB (or more) of your system memory! My desktop has 1GB and at one point the utility took over more than 580MB before I shut it down via the Task Manager. Unfortunately (as another example of really bad software engineering), you can't quit the program for real. As long as you have the adapter active, the utility will come back to life and start eating up your memory again.If you have Windows XP, use the OS's built-in "Windows Zero Configuration Wireless Client." First, uninstall the Linksys utility if you already installed it. Second, you need to install the adapter's driver: simply plug the adapter into a USB port, and, when Windows' driver search dialog comes up, browse to the "Driver" folder on the Linksys CD-ROM (e.g., "D:\driver"), and use the "v4" (version 4) driver, which is the latest -- after that, Windows' built-in wi-fi client will automatically kick in.Unfortunately, if you use Win2k or earlier, you'll have to either live with the poorly written Linksys utility (the problem exists on all systems) and restart your PC periodically to reclaim the memory, or just return the whole thing as a defective product and get another adapter (e.g., Netgear).

Piece of cake to install and setup

I purchased the Wireless-G Router (WRT54G), Wireless-G notebook adapter (WPC54G) and this Wireless-G USB Adapter (WUSB54G). I ordered them on a Friday night, they were shipped on Saturday and I received them on Monday around 4:00 pm. I opened all 3 boxes and had all installed by 5:00 pm that same day. These were a piece of cake to install and set up. I have 2000 on my laptop and XP home on the desktop. I really can't believe how easy this was to set up. I had put off getting these for months because I figured it would be my luck that I'd buy the wrong items or installation would be a nightmare. It wasn't. The connection hasn't failed once since installation. The router is located in my basement office (where the DSL cable modem is) and the desktop that utilizes the USB Adapter is on the main floor at the opposite end of our home. The signal is good (although not 100% obviously), but good enough that it is 10 times better than the dial up we had on that PC. I have taken the laptop in all rooms of our home (main floor and basement) and love the freedom I have to work where ever I want without losing my internet connection.I am very satisfied.
